Be gentle with the brakes leading up to the turn, abrupt braking may provoke a tail slide. Letting off the throttle abruptly is a bad thing because it may provoke the tail to slide. There seems to be something odd with the physics, specifically there seems to exist a different physics for ON throttle and OFF throttle.įirst the usual advice: It is normal that you may let off the throttle when entering a turn. It works excellently well with the xbox controller. There is a trick, it might be called an exploit, to help corner a little faster without so much drift. The California hills in this game feel like driving on ice or maybe it's the car or my driving or I guess some preset physics model the player cannot affect? Ironically I've driven on snow and ice in real life and never had any problems. It's the same problem of trying to keep the car straight which in GRID2 is going to be all the time? There's no assists or vehicle setups now which in DIRT3 I've played with a lot, I'll keep trying. I should note that I'm terrible with the drifting events in DIRT3, so basically in the career mode in that title I pretty much skip them. I think the best option for me now is to set the difficulty to very easy to control the AI a bit and then crank it back up later if I'm able to progress. The narrator says "your the best driver on the track." what a joke :) I've been trying many of those things like going slower in the corners, I basically have to or I'm off the road, and of course when slowing down the pack moves away. I took the same Mustang via custom events on some other tracks trying to figure out a working combination of acceleration, braking and steering to try and maintain a relatively straight line. ![]() I'm not looking to win first time out rather just finish in the first three so I can progress to the next event. Originally posted by martin-newsome1963:practice, why should you win first time out? I should note that setting difficulty levels doesn't seem to help as it affects the AI and vehicle damage but not car handling from what I can see? I found a video of someone on the XBox version who's doing a lot better than I, I can see the sliding around a little like I am but they've manage to keep it on the road, not me :) Should I be using a wheel here? Assuming one would work and I don't have access to one anyway. I understand that the drivning mechanics in this title are different, they're calling it live feel or something, so there's no settings for throttle, cornering or braking control etc like in DIRT. I'm on a PC, naturally and using an XBox controller and auto gears. I must come in the top three to move to the next event, at this stage even finishing fifth would suffice and the narrator isn't helping. The first event, the New Union team race in California with the RWD white Mustang, it feels like I'm driving on ice. ![]() With this one however I'm getting nowhere. I understand that this is a different game from F1 or DIRT but in DIRT 3 I have been able to drive many car types on different surfaces and win, albeit with assists on.
